The winter season is usually really hard on all the animals and plants, especially in a city in Turkey like Istanbul, which can reach around -16 C° in temperature in the coldest seasons.
Due to the fierce winters, it is not uncommon to see many homeless kittens and dogs on the streets seeking shelter from the lethal temperatures they face. Staying outdoors at this time of year is practically a death sentence for them.
The city of Istanbul can reach really low temperatures
Fortunately, there are many people in this city who care about the well-being of these poor abandoned creatures. Without hesitation, many are willing to give the love and care that the helpless animals of the noble town require.
So, just like every year, it was what happened with these kittens and dogs who were looking for shelter, any place with a roof and walls always attracts them, which makes environments open to the public their favorite places to rest.
The streets are not the best place for these poor dogs
However, what they did not expect was the incredible attention that they would be given in the stores of a shopping center, in which the owners waited for them with open arms to protect them from the threat of winter.
Once people noticed the presence of the little animals, it didn’t take long to get them blankets and cardboard boxes so they could sleep warmly right in front of their stores.
The care they received was everything they had dreamed of.
In even more noble cases, such as in the women’s clothing store, called Penti, they allowed them to take refuge inside the premises so that they felt more comfortable, as if it were their second home. Of course, they are very respectful and let customers do their shopping as usual.
The adorable puppies feel at home.
The store that broke the biggest record was the cafe of a man named Selçuk Bayal, who let 12 homeless kittens use his establishment as a shelter. He cared little about the possible discontent that he could arouse in some clients, as long as he managed to offer the little ones a place to rest.
The owners and workers of these stores remind us of the goodness that exists in many people, who no matter what, are willing to provide even the smallest support to those who need it.
The kindness of these people is admirable.
The wonderful people of Istanbul have raised the bar in kindness and nobility for everyone in the world. With any luck, these acts can inspire many other people to open their doors and their hearts to animals in need when the climate becomes so inhospitable.
We invite you to share this story with other people so that, like these illustrious citizens, they are always willing to do the right thing for the animals most in need!
