He decided to investigate what was happening and that’s how he discovered that the screams were coming from a trash can .

The puppies were rescued in the city of Indianapolis in the United States.

As soon as he opened it he came across something that broke his heart . They were no less than seven newborn puppies desperately asking for help.

It was evident that someone had taken them there with the worst of intentions . Without the help of their mother or an adult it was very likely that they would end up tragically losing their lives .

“Animals are not disposable. I don’t understand how there are people capable of doing something like that,” lamented a user on the networks.

Luckily, the officer’s keen hearing led him right to them. Charleswood is not an expert in animal rescue but he knew he had to do something . It was a very cold night so he decided to take off his coat and leave them in a safe place .

“They still had their umbilical cords. They were minimal,” the officer explained.

She then contacted Every Dog Counts Rescue. There they carried out the procedures to take all the little ones to a temporary home .

They were so minimal that they needed a lot of attention and care. Fortunately, they were rescued just in time and will grow up safe and sound .

“When the puppies arrived at the shelter, they were sleeping peacefully in the officer’s shelter ,” thanked a shelter spokesperson.

The moving story was made known through social networks and went completely viral. This proved vital in helping to raise awareness and find forever homes for the puppies.

“It was a cold and rainy day but this officer spent the rest of his day without a coat as he preferred to save the puppies,” explained a spokesperson for Every Dog Counts Rescue.

The puppies were born in the middle of a truly difficult situation and it is a miracle that they managed to survive in that cold garbage dump . Luckily, now all that is a thing of the past and each of them found a forever home, they will grow up in houses where they will never lack care or love.

The puppies were named Zuma, Yumi, Tess, Skye, Harvey Sue, Marshall and Chase .

It is truly outrageous to know how many cases of abandonment like this take place every day. Many are not afraid to leave an innocent puppy on the street regardless of the enormous danger this poses , especially for a puppy. We greatly appreciate Officer Charleswood for reminding us that we can always stop and help a furry friend in distress.
