Pit bulls are one of the most stigmatized breeds due to their supposed aggressiveness. And paradoxically, for that same reason, they are the most abused dogs with the greatest trauma after being used as bait in the famous dog fights.

But no one is able to imagine the pain and suffering that poor little Khalessi, a 2-year-old pit bull mix, who weighed just 9 kilos when she was found, had to go through.

Orange County Animal Services was alerted when the critically injured dog was dumped in a family’s yard. As if she hadn’t had enough of everything they did to her, they finally threw her away like waste.

Poor dear! The images of him speak for themselves, the people who did that to him must definitely have a stone for a heart. It is really painful and reprehensible that there is so much excessive aggression against an innocent animal.

When they found her, half of her face was missing. She had no nasal cavity and was missing part of her upper jaw due to past trauma. She also had old fractures in her pelvis and limited use of her hind legs.

His snout, nostrils and sinus cavity had serious problems. She was completely disfigured.

He was also severely malnourished and his hind legs were injured.

As soon as she was found, they contacted the animal rescue organization, “Passion 4 pit Rescue” , where Stephanie Paquín, one of the volunteers, did not hesitate to take her in, and Khalessi received the necessary medical attention to save her life.

But frankly, his condition was so heartbreaking, that he had a long road ahead, and many surgeries and therapies ahead of him to walk again.

He would also need complicated dental work, as several of his teeth had exposed roots from the missing bone area in his jaw.

Luckily, heart conditions were ruled out and his face was treated by a team of specialists . His breathing problems improved a lot and he also gained weight.

The volunteers believe that Khalessi had to be a bait dog in the past , but despite her traumatic past, she wagged her tail and has always been affectionate and grateful to everyone who has cared for her.

The limitless loyalty he has is incredible, part of his face is missing, but he has plenty of love to share.

He is doing very well after several  surgical procedures on his hind legs and some parts of his face.

And her unbreakable spirit has been the best motivation for veterinarians not to give up and bet everything on her. She had suffered so much that she undoubtedly deserved that she would risk everything to see her smile.

The truth is that in the midst of everything that happened to him,  it is comforting to know that he is in good hands  and that instead of having a fatal outcome, he now has a life full of care and the affection he deserves.

Although there is still a long way to go before she can once again be the strong dog she surely once was, she does not lack love and her strength and desire to live allow her to keep hope alive.

As for those responsible for so much evil, I hope this story and the images reach their hands, so that at least they can’t sleep in peace.
